Pristupačnost
The Student Internship is a course offered in the first year of the graduate study programme in Sociology at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb. Since the academic year 2024/2025, the course has been conducted in the summer semester with the aim of enabling students to gain practical experience in a professional environment.
The internship is carried out through cooperation between the Faculty and partner organizations where students complete their placements. During the internship, students participate in the everyday activities of the organization and, under the guidance of mentors, take part in performing various work tasks related to the organization’s field of activity. Students are supervised by mentors from the host organization as well as mentors from the Department of Sociology, who jointly guide their work and monitor the achievement of the internship objectives.
The Student Internship course was introduced in response to students’ interests and requests for additional opportunities to gain practical experience during their studies.
The internship is conducted according to a previously agreed work plan, and the total internship workload amounts to 30 hours. During the internship, students keep an Internship Log, in which they record their work activities, the tools and skills used, the results of the activities, and the purpose of the completed tasks. At the end of the internship, students prepare a final reflection, in which they evaluate the contribution of the internship to their professional development and its significance for the work of the organization in which the internship was carried out.
The Student Internship enables students to connect theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies with concrete professional experience, to become familiar with the challenges of working in their field, and to develop competencies important for their future professional engagement and networking.
