Lana Dajčer, Emily Ryall, and Matija Škerbić at the World Congress of the Philosophy of Sport in Denmark

This year’s 53rd World Congress of the Philosophy of Sport, held in Odense, Denmark, from 26 to 30 August, featured three representatives from our Faculty.

We are particularly pleased to note the participation of Communication Studies student Lana Dajčer, who, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Matija Mato Škerbić, Ph.D., made an excellent debut with a paper entitled “Ethical Approach to Equestrian Sport and Competition.” It should also be noted that Lana Dajčer is the recipient of this year’s International Association for the Philosophy of Sport (IAPS) Travel Award in the amount of USD 1,000.

The event, organised by the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, University of Southern Denmark, also featured Professor Emily Ryall, Visiting Professor at our Faculty’s Department of Philosophy and Culturology, who presented a paper entitled “Essential Actions and Dangerous Sports.”

Finally, Assistant Professor Matija Mato Škerbić, Ph.D., from the same Department, delivered a presentation entitled “The Enhanced Games, Techno-Optimism and Value-Alignment.”
