Marko Marina Signs Publishing Contract with Palgrave Macmillan (Springer Nature)

Marko Marina, Ph.D., faculty member of the Department of History, has signed a publishing contract with the renowned academic publisher Palgrave Macmillan, part of the Springer Nature publishing group, for the forthcoming publication of his scholarly monograph titled Power, Memory, and Institutional Formation of Christian Orthodoxy, 100–500.

Palgrave Macmillan is one of the world’s most prestigious academic publishing houses, recognized for producing high-quality scholarly monographs and handbooks in the humanities and social sciences. As part of the Springer Nature group — one of the largest and most respected academic publishers globally, which also includes the journal Nature — Palgrave provides outstanding international visibility and distribution for academic works.

The forthcoming monograph will offer a comprehensive historical analysis of the emergence and rise of a specific branch of Christianity that, by the end of the fifth century, had established itself as the official religion of the Roman Empire. Unlike traditional theological or teleological explanations, this study places emphasis on institutional structures, mechanisms of authority, and cultural strategies of shaping collective memory that ensured the long-term stability and dominance of this form of Christianity.

A significant contribution of the monograph lies in its detailed examination of Egyptian monasticism in the fourth and fifth centuries as a prime example of institutional adaptation.

Dr Marina’s collaboration with Palgrave Macmillan further affirms the international relevance and academic excellence of the research conducted at the Department of History, Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb.
