Assist. Prof. Erik Brezovec, Ph.D., Joins the Panel of Commentators on the HRT Show “Peti dan”

The sixteenth season of the Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) programme “Peti dan” will feature new additions to its panel of commentators — among them Ena Katarina Haler, architect and writer, and Assist. Prof. Erik Brezovec, Ph.D., professor at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb.

Peti dan” is a weekly discussion programme featuring prominent intellectuals who engage in thoughtful conversations on current topics from the fields of science, art, culture, and society, guided by professional moderation and grounded, analytical debate.

Assist. Prof. Erik Brezovec, Ph.D., is a sociological theorist whose research focuses on the relationship between society and technology and on the sociology of knowledge, with particular emphasis on Niklas Luhmann’s theory of social systems. He is a co-founder of the Cambridge Global Knowledge Nexus, an initiative dedicated to studying the social implications of generative artificial intelligence and the application of theoretical insights in practice.

He serves as guest editor of a special issue of the journal AI & Society (Springer) and is a co-organizer of the Cambridge Generative AI in Education Conference. He is the author of numerous scholarly papers and a regular contributor of popular science articles to the online platforms meer.com and sociologija.hr.

The first episode of the new season will air on 3 October at 8:10 p.m. on HRT 3 (Third Channel), featuring discussions on the contemporary right-wing worldview and the cancellation of cultural events.

Alongside Assist. Prof. Brezovec, the episode will feature Marijana Bijelić, Matija Štahan, and Ena Katarina Haler.

The programme is edited and hosted by Gabrijela Perišić, directed by Kamelija Čančarević, and produced by Ana Vuić.
