To commemorate Korea’s National Foundation Day (October 3), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Croatia held a National Day reception on Wednesday, October 22, at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb, marking the year 4358 in the Korean calendar.
The event began with the Korean and Croatian national anthems performed by the Lado Choir, followed by a congratulatory address by Ambassador Seungbuhm Lee, a taekwondo performance by Croatian children, cultural experience programs, and a tasting of Korean cuisine.
The Zagreb King Sejong Institute collaborated with the embassy to organize various activities that allowed visitors to experience Korean culture firsthand. The booths included ▲a photo zone featuring Hanbok and Squid Game themes, ▲a Hangeul experience booth where visitors could write their names and phrases such as “Thank you” and “I love you” in Korean, and ▲introducing korean food to visitors. In addition, Korean traditional clothes, Hanbok, was displayed giving opportunity to the visitors to try them on.
The photo zone and the Hangeul name-writing activity attracted particular interest from many visitors. At the Hangeul experience booth, visitors who wrote their names in Hangeul were given Korean ramyun noodles sponsored by the Korean Mart in Zagreb, adding an extra element of fun to the activity.
Students from the King Sejong Institute, who are learning Korean language and culture, volunteered by helping visitors learn how to write in Hangeul and assisting with photo sessions, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the celebration.
The Zagreb King Sejong Institute plans to continue cooperating with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Croatia to promote the Korean language and culture and to contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries. This event served as a meaningful opportunity to share the beauty of Korean culture and Hangeul with the local community.
